Ferns is a semi-abstraction of a photo I took on Cougar Mountain (outside Issaquah, WA). The photo was taken March 12th, 2005. The painting was completed in August of 2006.
This untitled piece is a study of layers and textures. It was completed in 2005.
Spin I painted as a gift for Matt (of Matt's Communism Test) - it's inspired by fire dancers in the desert, and was completed in October of 2006.
Smoke Trees was painted from a photo I took on Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park during extensive forest fires in 2003 - it is a hazy view across the lake, with the far bank obscured by smoke. The painting was completed in 2006.
Perception is an abstract self-portrait I painted as a gift for another friend. The top half represents how I perceive myself, and the bottom half, how I am perceived. It was completed in March of 2007.
This untitled piece is a print of a male body, created by painting directly on the subject, and then pressing the canvas on the paint. The first of a pair, it was completed in August of 2007 - its companion piece will be a female subject, and the colour values will be reversed.
Torn is an abstraction of a photo I took of the very weathered door to a storage shed at one of my former residences. The photo, Worn, was taken on July 9th of 2006. The painting was completed in August of 2008. Torn will be shown as part of the Microsoft Employee Art Exhibit April 16th through July 8th, 2009!
This untitled piece I painted as a wedding gift for my best friend. It is another scene from the same mindspace as Torn, and was completed in November of 2008.
Pinscape I painted as a gift for my brother. It was inspired by him, and by the season in which we were both born. The painting was completed in December of 2008.
Strand I: The Flower is mixed media; hemp twine, recycled paper, and acrylic paint. It was completed in April 2009.
